Facade

Posted in Lyrics, Poetry at Rest on November 1st, 1997

Wake up–it’s time to play
A humanitarian today
Push people out of your way
We know you have a lot to say

The true colors you tried to hide
Still dwell behind your wall of pride
Bleeding through the holes, denied
By the facade of which you abide

You claim to be down to earth
Though your eyes to the sky
And your nose in the air
Seizing others’ self worth
Putting yourself high
Leave the rest in despair

Tell me how does it feel
To be never wrong
But always far from right?
The truth, will you ever reveal—
Or has it been too long—
Since you’ve seen the light?

Empty words within deep thought
To manipulate the ones you taught
And steal the minds of those that faught
Respect unearned cannot be bought!

When you’re wrong there’s no remorse
Still another time you run it’s course
And stand there beating a buried horse
You always win but only by force

You claim to be down to earth
Though your eyes to the sky
And your nose in the air
Seizing others’ self worth
Putting yourself high
Leave the rest in despair

Tell me how does it feel
To be never wrong
But always far from right?
The truth, will you ever reveal—
Or has it been too long—
Since you’ve seen the light?

Denial of the Fittest

Posted in Lyrics, Poetry at Rest on November 1st, 1997

Closed minds so tried and true
Open mouths had laughed at You
Blinded eyes have missed the view
With blocked ears to misconstrue

Instruments, which seem so real
Not tools but weapons they conceal
In the end, only to reveal
The evil disguised by their appeal

Yet one day they’ll be forced to swallow pride
Their own and that of those of which have died
While on earth his wish they’ve once again defied
And the words of The Fittest were denied

A con will cry a false tear
Give words of wisdom insincere
Repel the truth to lies adhere
Watch another’s conscience disappear

Yet one day they’ll be forced to swallow pride
Their own and that of those of which have died
While on earth His will they’ve once again defied
And the words of The Fittest were denied

Open minds have gone astray
Closed mouths never will convey
Unresponsive hearts beat on display
As we watch their souls decay

Yet one day they’ll be forced to swallow pride
Their own and that of those of which have died
While on earth His will they’ve once again defied
And the words of The Fittest were denied

Passing Me By

Posted in Lyrics, Poetry at Rest on November 1st, 1997

One day I’m afraid to find
That vanity was all in vain
And if I leave my past behind
It will still not make me sane

A need exists to make my mind
And from apathy abstain
For on the fabric of mankind
I won’t even leave a stain

Seeing life living a lie…
Watching all that surrounds me die
Now it’s just Passing Me By
And God knows I didn’t try

Conceiving things I’ll never know
Imagination left unguarded
To lack the drive I need to grow
Will end all that I have started

Seeing life in a haste…
Watching old friends go to waste
While I just take up space
With all the things I cannot face

I fear the nightmares may come true
Revealing my life squandered
The dreams I never did pursue
And my ambitions, only pondered

Seeing life living a lie…
Watching all that surrounds me die
Now it’s just Passing Me By
And God knows I didn’t try

Seeing life in a haste…
Watching old friends go to waste
While I just take up space
With all the things I cannot face

Only to leave without a trace…
