Mentacide
Posted in Lyrics, Poetry at Rest on December 1st, 1997The bell rings, class begins
To play the game that no one wins
Evil kings, with pleasant grins
Mold the future from their sins…
The goal to make the world their twin
Corrupt another’s mind
In the end only to find
All of one kind
Believed in all that you were told
To society your soul was sold
The powers that be, they took their hold
And watched them all fit you into their mold
And watched them all fit you in–
Conflicting views, of wrong and right
The values one did not invite
What to choose, of whom to plight
Easier to lose than fight…
When the future seemed so bright
The message that they send
Still they will pretend
Until the end
Believed in all that you were told
To society your soul was sold
The powers that be, they took their hold
And watched them all fit you into their mold
And watched them all fit you in–
Puppets on their strings retrieving
Lies their masters are conceiving
Living out their lives deceiving
All that join in their believing…of
A system accommodating
Those that are participating
Minds and lives its dominating
To the end abominating…love
Never one’s own mind empowered
Life of oppression turning sour
Now seeks hope, the final hour
Still living a life of cower…
A victim of abuse of power
Of those that seemed so strong
Not knowing all along
That they were wrong
Believed in all that you were told
To society your soul was sold
The powers that be did take their hold
And watched them all fit you into their mold
And watched them all fit you into their mold
Minds at stake, every day
Just from hearing words they say
A big mistake, in every way
To be a pawn but not to play
