Writer’s Block
Posted in Lyrics, Poetry at Rest on April 19th, 2002Yesterday is what we know
We don’t think of tomorrow
We have a place where we can go
To dwell in our sorrow
Of times we cannot change
And years we’ve yet to waste
On the failures we arrange
The dreams we have misplaced
On Writer’s Block
They’re living history
And stole from life its mystery
On Writer’s Block
They’re victims all the same
That know just how to shift the blame-
From Writer’s Block to you…
We all once had one do us wrong
And bring us where we stand today
Lining Memory Lane many miles long
That leads to Writer’s Block they say
Where we await the expiation
From those that have since gone away
Who can’t deny our accusations
Because they won’t be here to say-
On Writer’s Block
They’ll chase a fantasy
Feed from another’s misery
On Writer’s Block
Their goals are all the same
To find someone else to blame
Far from Writer’s Block to here…
No comfort in this place we dwell
We’ve all been dealt a losing hand
To drown in tear-filled wishing wells
From eyes of lives not gone as planned
Trapped in this sea of negativity
Riding out these waves of strife
Holding futures in captivity
Just another day of the life-
On Writer’s Block
They’re living history
And stole from life its mystery
On Writer’s Block
They’re victims all the same
That know just how to shift the blame-
From Writer’s Block to you…
[Interlude]
On Writer’s Block
They’ll chase a fantasy
Feed from another’s misery
On Writer’s Block
Their goals are all the same
To find someone else to blame
Far from Writer’s Block to here…
